PALAZZANI INDUSTRIE: THE NEW TZJ 160 & 180 SPIDER LIFTS

90 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, A NEW GENERATION OF PLATFORMS

With the introduction of the TZJ 160 and TZJ 180, Palazzani launches a new generation of compact aerial platforms designed for daily use, easy, safe, and sustainable, without compromising on performance.

TZJ 160 & TZJ 180: COMPACTNESS, INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY FOR SAFE WORK AT HEIGHT

On the occasion of its 90th anniversary, Palazzani Industrie will present two new models of Ragno tracked aerial platforms at Bauma 2025 in Munich: TZJ 160 and TZJ 180.

This launch represents a strategic evolution of the Palazzani product offering, designed in response to increasing market demand, especially from rental companies and operators, for ultra-compact, lightweight, trailer-transportable solutions that offer high performance in the low to mid working height range. The TZJ series is the perfect blend of historical expertise and technological innovation.

PROJECT ORIGINS: PALAZZANI TRADITION MEETS MARKET DEMAND

The project was born from the desire to combine Palazzani’s iconic strengths – robustness, reliability, and superior quality – with specific features required by today’s market for this platform category.
Both TZJ models are engineered with high-strength Strenx steel booms and top-quality components to ensure durability, simplified maintenance, and long-lasting performance.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

With working heights of 16 m and 18 m, and outreach of 7,5 m and 8 m respectively, the new TZJ platforms offer a 230 kg basket capacity, ideal for two operators with tools.

Extremely compact and lightweight, both models can be easily transported by trailer. The minimum undercarriage width (without basket) of just 0,78 m allows smooth access through standard doors, narrow gates, and corridors. This makes them particularly suitable for urban environments, historic centers, and indoor jobsites. At the same time, variable-width tracks up to 0,96 metri provide superior ground contact and enhanced stability, even on slopes and uneven surfaces.

Despite their structural strength, the platforms remain lightweight: just 2415 kg (TZJ 160) and 2515 kg (TZJ 180, petrol version). This allows transportation with a light trailer and makes them jobsite-ready as soon as they arrive—streamlining logistics and improving efficiency.

STRUCTURE & DESIGN

Both models feature a double articulated telescopic boom with jib, an ideal solution for overcoming architectural obstacles and performing precise movements in tight aerial spaces. The jib is fully rotatable and operated by proportional controls, allowing accurate positioning, especially useful for finishing work or operating near structural barriers.
The absence of components underneath the basket enhances up-and-over capability and improves operator accessibility when entering or exiting the platform.

AVAILABLE OPTIONS

An interesting optional feature is the automation kit, which includes auto-leveling with automatic lowering of the outriggers and the “Return to Home” function.
Among the available options, the platform can be equipped with a single-operator basket (70x70x110 cm) or an insulated single-operator basket.

EASE OF USE & MAINTENANCE

The Palazzani design philosophy prioritizes intuitive, operator-friendly use.

The TZJ models are “geometric” machines with no outreach limiter. This means the operator can fully utilize the entire working envelope in any condition, without restrictions based on the basket load, provided the weight remains within the rated capacity.

The controls, whether wired or radio, and identical both on the ground and in the basket, are designed for maximum intuitiveness. As electro-hydraulic machines, they allow full control of all movements, driving, stabilization, and boom operations.

Equipped with an integrated mini display, the control system provides real-time information on outrigger status, machine inclination, track position, turret angle, sensor status, and other key diagnostic parameters. This user-friendly interface allows even less experienced operators to use the machine safely and efficiently.

To simplify loading and unloading onto trucks, in addition to standard lifting rings, the platforms are equipped with dedicated forklift pockets. The machine’s elevated chassis also allows for self-loading onto trailers.

To further enhance ease of use, these models, like the entire Palazzani range, come with a QR code that provides access to manuals, electrical and hydraulic diagrams, spare parts catalogs, easy-use videos, and emergency videos.

REMOTE DIAGNOSTICS: THE NEW PALCONTROL SYSTEM

Like all upcoming Palazzani models, the TZJ platforms are equipped with the new PalControl system, an advanced telemetry solution for real-time diagnostics and remote assistance.
This feature allows technicians to monitor platform data remotely for rapid troubleshooting and proactive maintenance. The CAN-bus system further simplifies diagnostics and servicing.

SAFETY FIRST

For the safety of both the operator and the machine, the design focused on protecting all sensitive components (such as valves, levers, etc.) with dedicated covers. Additionally, all hydraulic hoses are fully enclosed within the boom structure.

The electronic inclinometer and auto-leveling system ensure safe and controlled operation on slopes of up to 27%.

Both models are also equipped with a load cell for precise and accurate weight monitoring at height, contributing to maximum operational safety and guaranteeing a basket load capacity of up to 230 kg.

POWER OPTIONS & SUSTAINABILITY

Palazzani is committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The TZJ models are available with a variety of power solutions to suit different job-site needs:

  • Standard configurations:
  • Honda i-GX 390 gasoline engine (8.7 kW)
  • Kubota diesel engine (10.6 kW)

  • Electric motor (option):
  • Single-phase 220 V – 2.2 kW or 110 V – 1.1 kW (market dependent) for indoor applications

  • ECO version:
  • 5 kW electric motor and LiFePO4 battery 5.6 kWh (48V – 110 Ah)

  • ECO PRO version:
  • 5 kW electric motor and LiFePO4 battery 11.2 kWh  (48V – 220 Ah), for extended autonomy

  • In development:
  • HYBRID DUAL version: gasoline or diesel engine + electric motor + LiFePO4 battery, combining independence with eco-conscious operation

VERSATILE APPLICATIONS

The TZJ 160 and TZJ 180 are ideal for a wide range of applications, including:

  • Civil and industrial construction
  • Renovation and restoration in historic city centers
  • Tree care and landscaping
  • Event setup and trade shows
  • Airports, theaters, tunnels, stadiums, and logistics centers

The basket can also be replaced with a lifting hook (up to 250 kg), expanding the machine’s capabilities for material handling at height.
